The proposed pesticides are Littora, with EPA registration number 67690-53, or Reward, with EPA registration number 100-1091. Both products have active ingredient diquat dibromide, and both will be applied via subsurface trailing hoses from a boat. Treatment would occur between June 1 and August 30 throughout the duration of the permit. PROJECT NEED: Excessive growth of nuisance aquatic vegetation creates a safety hazard for float planes, as vegetation can become tangled in the float rudders and interfere with pilots' ability to steer their aircraft during taxi, takeoff, and landings. Manual and mechanical control methods are ineffective for these aquatic plants.
